Keyboard Typing Classes at Mt. Lebanon High School

What: Keyboard Typing classes for Adults

Where: Mt. Lebanon High School Room C305 (computer lab adjacent to the library)

Cost: $42 for Mt. Lebanon Residents, $48 for Non Resident, $36 for Gold Card (Mt. Lebanon Resident age 62+)

Instructor: Tessa Watkins

Commitment: Sign up for 1 session where each session is 4 classes, 1 class per week

Time: Wednesdays at 7:30pm to 9:00pm (1.5 hours per class)

Age Requirements: 18+ (can accept kids in grades 4+ if adult enrolls with them)

Class Description: A beginner-level course designed to teach the fundamental skills needed to type on a keyboard efficiently and accurately. In this class, you will learn proper hand placement, posture, and typing techniques. We will also build awareness of potential physical strain caused by prolonged typing and methods to prevent and alleviate the effects. By the end of this course, you will have gained a basic understanding of how to type on a computer keyboard and have access to an online account to continue practicing so that you may become a confident and efficient keyboard typist.

All participants should park in the South Lot next to the Fine Arts Entrance. Everyone should enter the building via entrance B-9 unless otherwise noted (see image). The building’s full address is below.

Directions

Classes are subject to cancellation if there is not enough interest and classes can be added if there’s more than enough interest. Because of this, we ask you to get your registrations in early as possible.

Adult Continuing Education classes will be canceled if the senior high building closes due to an emergency. A list of predetermined dates when there are no evening continuing education classes are February 1st, March 9th, and March 25-29.

Payment Methods

You are automatically registered for a class with your payment and should plan to attend the first session.

Online

Participants can pay online through the Arbiter Sports platform.

In-Person Registration

In-person registration will take place at the Auditorium entrance (A2) on January 9th and 10th from 5:00-7:00 pm.

Mail-in Check

You can also send in a check by mailing it in with a completed registration form. We evaluate each class enrollment 1-week prior to the start of the class to determine if we have enough interest.
