Website Maintenance Options

3 minute read

I want to help my clients choose a website maintenance plan that works for them, even if it’s not with me. Before I started working for myself full-time, I undervalued my own services. I assumed I was just renting out space on the internet for other people to have their digital storefronts. I assumed I was like most of the other ~$10/month web hosting services.

As it would turn out, I do way more. I’m an involved landlord of digital space! I don’t just give you a website and leave it alone to rot, no! Every month, I’m monitoring performance, performing updates, and patching security vulnerabilities. And that is just for the sites I host! Some of my clients ask me to make content edits too, or provide tech support for their users. To say they got a bargain on value is an understatement.

The table below compares web hosting plans that is closer to what I actually do for my clients. It all depends on what you value and what you’re willing to handle compared to what you want your hosting provider to handle.

Price comparison of maintenance plans from various web host providers. Pricing last updated on December 4, 2025.

But Tessa, your chart doesn’t make sense. If they don’t offer as much as you do, why do they cost nearly double?

The answer you’re looking for is resources. These are businesses that serve thousands, if not millions, of enterprise-level businesses so their plans’ values focus on storage and bandwidth. You pay them for better equipment. Meaning, you’re renting out a mansion from them but you have to do everything by yourself including the cleaning and repairs. With me, you’re renting out a pretty decent house that’s good enough (but not a mansion) and it comes with the cleaning service, a chef, a dogwalker, a painter, an interior decorator, a plumber, an electrician, etc. Which do you value more?

Not many of the popular web hosts offer these services because it is more expensive to handle—their bottom line is less work for more money. My bottom line is equity, making enterprise-level resources affordable to level the digital playing field. I personally checked all of the ones I’ve listed in my web host options comparison chart and did not find any offers even close to this caliber.
